As evil as it seems, I believe by pushing you to listen everyday, I could familiarize you with native speakers' speech and at the same time help you pick up new vocabulary faster.
TIPS for listening: - Read through real quick the text to grasp the general ideas (3-5 minutes. Don't spend more than 5') - Think of your own words to fill in the blanks. Ask yourself what part-of-speech the words are (i.e., noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc.) (5 minutes) - Listen to the recording and fill in the blank as quickly as you can (5') - Listen again and pause at the blanks (5-10') - Check the transcript (5') - Listen again for comprehension (5') At the end of the day, you listen two more times, pay attention to the new words introduced in the listening. Repeat the phrases/words. Repeat and copy the intonation of the whole sentence containing the words. In general, you probably spend a total of one hour per day for this activity. |
